Cookie Booths & Cookie Breaks

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the leading entrepreneurial program for girls around the world.  This program is a powerful, hands-on leadership and entrepreneurial program where girls benefit from real-life experience and gain skills such as business management, communication strategies, and goal-setting.

Last year, nearly 400 businesses throughout southwest Virginia, east Tennessee, and north Georgia helped girls reach their goals by allowing them to set up cookie booths at their location or by participating in Business Bosses Supporting Cookie Bosses.  Partnering with Girl Scouts helps drive traffic directly to your business and increases community awareness of your philanthropy.

Would you be willing to help support girls in your community by allowing them to set up cookie booths?

By doing so, you'll be supporting girls by helping to develop financial literacy skills and confidence that will last a lifetime, while also creating more visibility and awareness for your business and your support within the community.

P.S. Let your customers know they can get Girl Scout Cookies at your location!  Download a poster to hang up by the door!

DROPDOWN FAQ:

What is a Cookie Booth?

A cookie booth is a place where a Girl Scout troop sets up a table at a business or other approved location to sell Girl Scout cookies.

What is a Cookie Break?

A business pre-orders cookies to provide to employees during a company-sponsored Cookie Break. A Girl Scout troop may attend the Cookie Break if it is hosted outside normal school hours, or the troop may deliver cookies and a poster for display if the break is hosted during school hours. Once your registration is processed and a troop signs up for your Cookie Break, a troop volunteer will reach out to you to settle details.

How will it work if I register my location to host a cookie booth?

Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians administrators will use the information you provide (i.e. dates, times, special instructions) on the registration form to create a schedule for your location. This information is then loaded into a secure website so that Girl Scout Troop Cookie Managers can sign up for available time slots. The site makes it easy for troops so that you do not have to manage the schedule or troop leader requests. Troops will receive any specific instructions that you provided so that you are not fielding follow-up questions. Troops show up when you want them and where you want them!

When can Girl Scout Cookie booths be held?

Girl Scout Cookie Booths start Friday, February 26, 2021 and can be hosted any day through Sunday, March 21, 2021. Your location can opt to be open for cookie booths on specific dates and times of your choosing between those days. GSCSA will create time slots of 1.5 to 2 hours in length during your available times. We cannot guarantee the number of time slots that will be claimed by troops, and GSCSA may adjust your available hours to a shorter time period that better fits a Girl Scout schedule. For example, if your location is open from 6 am to 11 pm, GSCSA may shorten the available times to 8 am to 8 pm. GSCSA will not lengthen available times. Girls are not available to host cookie booths during school hours and will typically start weekday booths at 4pm at the earliest. You can request a booth earlier on weekdays during Spring Break in your area. Sample time frames for cookie booths are listed in the registration form.

How does my support impact Girl Scouts?

During the 2019 Cookie Season, we estimate that 583 troops and over 6,300 Girl Scouts in our area participated in Cookie Booth sales at nearly 400 locations. These 400 locations provided almost 12,000 cookie booth timeslots! During that time girls were able to do some amazing things!

During 2020, COVID19 significantly impacted Girl Scout Cookie Booth sales, as stay-at-home recommendations happened early in our booth season. Girls had to become very creative about how to reach customers when Cookie Booths were no longer an option. Many businesses supported Girl Scouts that year by hosting Cookie Breaks and donating cookies to essential workers. This support helped our girls have a successful season!

On top of badges the girls earned, they also learned five valuable life skills! Their goal setting led them to plan activities, go to camp, complete community service projects, and more! Their decision making helped them create an action plan, while their practice at money management gave them practical life skills. Girls learned new people skills as they greeted new customers, and they learned business ethics like making and keeping a  promise.

Throughout all of this skill building they also sold millions of cookies raising millions of dollars all of which stays local to Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians. Over $1.2 million went directly back to the Girl Scout troops! When you see numbers like these, it’s easy to see how big of an impact YOU can have on local Girl Scouts with just one month of your time.

How do I know who is coming?

Once cookie booth sign ups begin, they are constantly changing. Troops may sign up for a booth and later release their spot to another troop, so it is unlikely that you can get an accurate list of who is coming, and when. However, troops are required to send at least 1 adult who is a registered, background-checked, approved volunteer. Troops are required to have a minimum of 2 adults and no more than 5 Girl Scouts at a booth. You can trust that troops will behave in the “Girl Scout Way.” Should a troop not behave as such, please let us know!

How do cookie booths benefit me and my company?

Customers are constantly seeking out Girl Scout Cookies, and we drive them to our “Cookie Finder,” which links directly to all of our cookie booth locations. That means once your booth is approved and troops sign up, your location is available to the thousands of customers out there looking for Girl Scout Cookies! Customers simply type in their zip code to find the nearest cookie booth, pushing them right to your location!

Last year there were nearly 10,000 searches and 4 billion electronic imprints! This doesn’t even include the word of mouth!

What if I forget my dates, need to make a change, or an issue arises? Who do I contact?

Once your registration has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with a copy of the information you supplied for your records. Additionally, it will include contact information for the Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians staff member in charge of booth sales who can make changes or address any concerns.

Once I submit my registration, is my location automatically approved?

All locations will be screened before being made available to troops for sign-ups. A location may be denied for reasons including, but not limited to, the following: proximity to another approved location, location is inappropriate for children, or a location is deemed unsafe.

Should your location not be approved or additional information is needed, a Girl Scout administrator will follow up within 72 business hours of registration submission.
