Dear Friends and Supporters of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida,
We are thrilled to announce that Girl Scouts of West Central Florida has received a $2 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott as part of an overall $84.5 million contribution to the Girl Scouts movement. This donation accelerates our ability to embed Girl Scouts in the cultural fabric of schools, neighborhoods and communities throughout our eight-county footprint and provides us with the jet fuel we need to reach our goal of 30,000 members by 2030.
Girl Scouts is thriving as the premier scouting and leadership development organization for girls. Ms. Scott’s gift along with nearly $1 million in funding from other community partners – and a goal to raise $1.2 million more in the next year – will advance GSWCF’s efforts to eliminate barriers to accessing Girl Scouts, strengthen our support of volunteers, and grow our movement by sharing the incredible impact our Girl Scouts make every day as they use their courage, confidence and character to take action in communities.
This is the largest donation from a single donor in GSUSA’s history and one of the largest from an individual to GSWCF. With this investment, we will devote more resources to community engagement and volunteer development so that our 4,000+ Girl Scout volunteers are well trained, connected and empowered to provide a high-quality Girl Scout leadership experience. We will continue to cultivate relationships and amplify inspiring Girl Scout stories so we can impact more girls with the power of Girl Scouts.
This is a great accelerator to the first year of our equity initiatives and we cannot wait to leverage this momentum to bring even more partners to the table as we build more girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Yours in Girl Scouting,
Mary Pat King
