Volunteer Cookie Resources

Get ready to Climb with Courage with Girl Scout Cookie season! There is a reason the Girl Scout Cookie Program is a celebrated tradition. It's an incredible opportunity for girls to Climb with Courage and build lifelong skills!

The largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world also offers an amazing opportunity for you as a volunteer. You get to see firsthand how girls grow, learn and come into their own.

Your most important function in preparing for the Girl Scout Cookie Program will be the time you spend with the girls in the troop. Through the cookie program, even the youngest Girl Scouts gain self-confidence and poise by learning how to greet customers and offer cookies for purchase.

Calculating ACH Payment for Cookies

The first ACH for your initial cookie order is due Tuesday, February 22, 2022. This is one-third (1/3) of your troop's initial order less your troop profit. We have created a step-by-step guide to help you figure this amount. This is the amount that must be in your troop bank account on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

Smart Cookie

Our Smart Cookies platform allows girls, councils, and volunteers to seamlessly manage every aspect of the cookie business from a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Sign in daily to monitor progress, connect with the community, and find helpful resources to support success.

Currently registered Girl Scouts should of received a Smart Cookie registration invitation email to set up and publish their very own cookie sales site. Once the site is set up and approved by the parent/guardian she may begin sending emails to her customers or use her Social Media to solicit sales.  Please note: If you have not received the Smart Cookie email contact  Customer Care at 888-623-1237.

From January 4, 2022 - February 3, 2022, customers have 2 options: they can have the girl deliver the cookies in-person beginning February 3, or have the cookies shipped to beginning January 4. Typically, customers who purchase shipped cookies are customers that are out of the local area of the Girl Scout.

From February 4, 2022 - March 20, 2022, the Girl Scout will have the option to email their customers (E-Card) “Shipped Orders” and “Girl Delivered” orders. With Girl Delivered orders, the Girl Scout actually delivers the cookies to her customers in person. The customer can pay via credit card at the time of the “Girl Delivered” order or wait and pay when the Girl Scout delivers the order in person.

From February 4, 2022 - March 20, 2022, the Girl Scout will have the option to use her social media link via social media, email or text for “Shipped Orders and “Girl Delivered” orders. With the social media link the customer’s only option is to pay via credit card.

DoorDash and Girl Scout Cookies

Purchasing Girl Scout Cookies has never been easier. A new national collaboration with DoorDash, the on-demand delivery platform, ensures girls remain at the center of innovation as they offer consumers the option to order cookies on-demand. GSUSA and DoorDash are making it possible for consumers in participating markets nationwide who don’t already know a Girl Scout to purchase cookies for on-demand delivery or for pickup at a nearby booth. As part of the entrepreneurial experience, local Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory, and more, while partnering with DoorDash’s technology and team. You may order Girl Scout Cookies for delivery on DoorDash.com or the DoorDash app, starting in February 2022.

Cookie Badges & Pins

When a Girl Scout places a pin or a badge on her vest or sash, it symbolizes an important achievement. Cookie Entrepreneur Family pins recognize the five skills girls learn as they begin to think like entrepreneurs through the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Cookie Business badges demonstrate that a girl has developed specific skills related to running her own business. When a Girl Scout wears these emblems, she lets the world know she’s a real-life Cookie Boss!

Social Media Guidelines - Selling Cookie on Social Media

Sharing your cookie goals with your customers online is easier than ever with ABC Smart Cookies! We all want to make sure to be a sister to our fellow Girl Scouts and follow any GSUSA and/or ABC Baker online marketing guidance. As we are all climbing with courage into this year’s Cookie Program, here are some helpful tips when it comes to sharing your cookie link(s) online, while following national guidance

  • Sharing on your cookie link on your parent’s personal Facebook page, via text, or through email is a great option!

  • You may share your cookie link on neighborhood or community pages, if those pages allow announcements. As long as the page is not a sale site and you are not paying to share your link on the page, it is allowed.

  •  Cookie links are not allowed on third-party sales sites and/or pages. Examples of third-party sites and/or pages includes: Facebook Marketplace (avoid using sell, sale, $ to not automatically appear on Facebook Marketplace).  Garage sale or community sale pages, eBay, and any other sale site on social media platforms.

  • You may not pay to advertise your link. Some sites/pages may allow you to advertise your cookie link, if you pay a fee. This is not allowed.

Good luck to each & every one of our Girl Scouts as we continue the 2022 Cookie Program! If you have questions, please contact  Customer Care at 888-623-1237.

Cookie Safety Tips

The safety of girls is the most important element in participating in the Girl Scout Cookie program. These safety tips and recommendations should be shared with your Girl Scout.

Operation Cookie Share

Operation Cookie Share has been a huge success. Girl Scouts of Central Illinois has provided over 1,000,000 worth of Girl Scout cookies to the men and women of our armed forces at home and aboad.

How Operation Cookie Share Works
Even though we are using a directs-sale format, girls should still take along their order cards. On each girl’s order card there is a column listing each variety of cookie plus one additional column labeled “Cookie Share.” When the girls go out with cookies in hand (and during cookie booths!), please encourage them to not only ask the customer to purchase Girl Scout cookies for themselves, but also to ask the customers to purchase cookies for our military troops. Girls will enter the number of boxes each customer donates on the Cookie Boxes Donated column. Customers do not have a choice of the variety of cookies to be sent to troops. Operation Cookie Share cookies are held in a “virtual warehouse”, troops do not take possession of these cookies. At the end of the program, all Operation Cookie Share orders are accounted for and then shipped to military soldiers at home and abroad.

Digital Cookies
When Girl Scouts send out emails through Digital Cookies, customers will have the opportunity to donate to Operation Cookie Share.

Share Patch and More
Girls that sell 12 boxes for Operation Cookie Share will earn a Cookie Share patch. Girls that sell 24 boxes will earn a beAmazing Flashlight and girls that sell 50 or more Operation Cookie Share will earn the Flower Pillow!

How are the Cookie Delivered to Military Troops?
A special thanks to Soldiers Angels and Operation Santa. Many of the donated cookies will arrive at home and abroad through these organizations. Also, donated cookies are sent to Great Lakes Naval facility, Illinois Veteran Retirement Homes and medical facilities, local USO’s and the Illinois National Guard.
