It’s our time to shine!

Two alternate delegate positions are open. Girls 14 years or older apply by January 31.

Girl Scouts from across our country and around the world will gather for the 56th time to conduct the important business of our Movement, using our democratic process to do so. The 2023 Girl Scout convention will be taking place July 18–22, 2023 at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

It consists of two events over the course of nearly a week:

56th National Council Session

56th National Council Session is the national business meeting being held on July 18–20 where delegates from every council across the nation and USA Girl Scouts Overseas meet to discuss, debate, and vote on issues important to the Girl Scout Movement, and elect national leaders for the next triennium.

Phenom by Girl Scouts

Phenom by Girl Scouts consists of exciting experiences in the Expo Hall and other fun and enriching programming from July 20–22. Meet special guests, attend the National Bridging ceremony and Gold Award celebration, take part in amazing activities and demos in the Expo Hall, and much more.

 

 Meet our National Council Delegates!

Fatima A. K.

Fatima A. K. is a third-year Cadette in the Sunset Scouts Service Unit and has been a Girl Scout for 9 years.  She is currently working on her Silver Award. Fatima attends Pasco Middle School and is in the Cambridge program.  She is the Vice President of FFA, a group leader in NJHS, and on the student council. She enjoys doing school sports such as shotput and basketball. Fatima serves on the CEO Girl Advisory Board, Media Girls, and is a Girl Delegate for Region F. She was the youngest student to be the NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) president for her school and was also a team manager for the basketball team in 6th grade. Her favorite color is green. Fatima knows English and is learning Spanish and Arabic too. Last year, she took a couple of American Sign Language classes as well. She loves learning about new languages and cultures. Fatima enjoys volunteering at Feeding Tampa Bay and helping the younger troops. Her favorite activities in Girl Scouts are horseback riding, meeting new friends, and making memories. She can't wait to be the next Girl Board of Director/National Delegate Member.

Jaidyn F. - A.

Jaidyn F.-A. is in her 9th year of Girl Scouts in the Silver Forest Service Unit. She is a past member of the CEO Cadette Advisory Board and a current MediaGirl. Jaidyn earned her Bronze Award by restoring a local Church playground and is in the process of completing her Silver Award. She is in the Cambridge Program at school, an active member of National Junior Honor Society, and has served as Captain of her Cheerleading Squad and Soccer Team. Jaidyn is in her third year of American Sign Language (ASL) and hopes to become an interpreter by the time she graduates high school.  Jaidyn also enjoys horseback riding and serving her community.  She is an avid reader and writer who loves to draw and craft. Some of Jaidyn’s favorite memories in Girl Scouts are camping, community service events, crafting and learning new skills with her Girl Scout sisters, learning how to lead a meeting, cookie selling, annual Friendsgiving celebration, sleepovers, and making friendships that will last her entire life. Her favorite community service activities have been making blankets for the homeless, volunteering at Metropolitan Ministries, Christmas toy drives, making and delivering blessing packs, and beach clean ups. Jaidyn is excited to represent her Girl Scout sisters as a National Council Delegate.

Shannon Boyer

Shannon Boyer is a Florida native who joined Girl Scouts as a Daisy in 1996. In 2018, she graduated from Saint Leo University with her MBA with a specialization in Marketing and in Healthcare. She is also an alumni of the University of Central Florida (she obtained a BA in Hospitality/Event Management). She now works for UFHealth Shands as a Business Manager for the Cardiopulmonary Department. Shannon is currently the leader of her daughter's Ambassador troop and assists with the planning of events for Marion County. She is passionate about creating ways to engage the older level of Girl Scouts and helping shape the future of the Girl Scout Mission.

Nerissa Casanova

Nerissa Casanova is the Service Unit Manager for the Rainbow Community and has fulfilled several roles within the community over the last decade as a delegate, recruiter, event coordinator, adult awards, family partnership, and temporary accounting coordinator. Nerissa is serving her fifth term on the CEO Volunteer Roundtable; an amazing team of volunteers that share ideas, feedback and develop action plans to enrich the lives of adults and girls in our council. Nerissa's most valued volunteer position is being Troop Leader to Troop 30747.

Bayley Edwards

Bayley Edwards is a sophomore at the University of Florida double majoring in Political Science and Criminology on the Pre-Law track. She was a Girl Scout for 13 years, beginning with Daisies and bridging to adult in 2020, when she graduated high school. Bayley has served in several different Girl Scout roles—as a MediaGirl since its inception in 2013, on the CEO Girl Advisory Board, as a delegate for Circle O' Springs, and on the GSWCF Board of Directors for the 2018-2019 term. She has earned her Girl Scout Gold Award as well as her Bronze Award, and is a proud Girl Scout Lifetime Member. Bayley participates in intramural soccer, intramural flag football, Campus Diplomats, and Dance Marathon at UF. She is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Nu chapter at the University of Florida. Bayley works at Publix Market Square part time as a cashier, where she has been employed since 2018. In her free time, Bayley enjoys watching television, tubing, skydiving, and going to theme parks. Bayley is excited to represent GSWCF as a delegate at her second national meeting.

Cami Gibertini

Cami Gibertini has more than 30 years of retail banking experience in various senior leadership roles within a few institutions in the Tampa Bay market.

Currently, Cami is the Vice President, Business Center Manager II at Hancock Whitney Bank. She is responsible for the overseeing the sales and service activities of the Tampa Retail branches as well as generating and originating Business Banking lending opportunities to grow market share in the Tampa Bay market.

She was the founder of the “Women Entrepreneurs” later re-named “Women in Business” program at Valley Bank and managed the program in the 4 states as the National Director.

Cami holds prestigious banking certifications from the ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania with a Wharton Business School Certificate of Achievement. She also graduated from the FBA’s Florida School of Banking at the University of Florida, BAI’s Graduate School of Retail Banking at the University of Wisconsin- Madison and RMA’s Commercial Lending School at the University of Central Florida. She recently completed a Rutgers Executive Leadership program with Valley’s “Leaders In Action.”

Cami is a proud member of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida and was most recently 3rd Vice President and served on the Fund Development and Executive Committees. She also serves as on Advisory Council for the Centre for Women and is the past President and Treasurer of ECHO (Emergency Care Help Organization). She served at the Chairwoman for the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce in 2016. She was Brandon’s Honorary Mayor 2011-2012 and is a proud graduate of the Leadership Brandon (Class of 2000), Leadership Tampa (Class of 2004) and Leadership Tampa Bay (Class of 2015). Cami also served on the Campo Family YMCA Board of Directors, was a member of the Brandon 86 Rotary Club and member of Brandon Kiwanis.

Cami and her husband Scott live in Tampa and are the proud parents of two grown children: Haley and Ryan. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family, is an avid fitness buff, loves to read historical fiction, enjoys fine dining, covets time with her girl-tribe and she and Scott love to travel.

Dr. Sue Ryan Goodman

Dr. Sue Ryan Goodman completed her DBA at University of South Florida in 2021, with her dissertation “Understanding Nonprofit Boards: An Exploratory Study of Governance Practices of Regional Nonprofits”.   She retired in 2013 after a 24-year career in the investment industry and has since worked with non-profits.  She has an MBA from Rutgers University and a BS in Accounting from Marquette University.  Goodman is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant.  She is a Lifetime Girl Scout and has served on the Finance Committee of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, since she moved to Florida in early 2018.  From 2012-2018, she was a board member of the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey, where she also served on the Finance Committee for 10 years and was chair of the Audit Committee.  In 2008, she was a GSUSA National Council delegate and, in 2017, was awarded the Thanks Badge, the highest adult award in Girl Scouting.   She camped at the Rockwood Girl Scout National Center as a girl and at the Edith Macy Conference Center as an adult and visited Pax Lodge in London with her daughter in 2008.  Her daughter is a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, and her husband and son are both Eagle Scouts.

Mary Pat King

Mary Pat King is the CEO of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, which serves 19,000 members in eight counties. A certified association executive, Mary Pat has spent 20+ years working for national nonprofits and supporting state and local affiliates with mission advancement, volunteer engagement, board relations, member recruitment, revenue development and nonprofit effectiveness. She is a child advocate, focusing her career on engaging youth, families, schools and communities. She has led the design, scale-up and nationwide delivery of numerous youth and family programs that support student success or improve overall well-being.  

Andrea Weaver

Andrea Weaver started her Girl Scout journey as a child and her love of scouting has motivated her to pass the traditions on to her daughter and others. As an adult, she has served as a troop leader in Beautiful Waters for thirteen years. Starting with Daisies, her troop is currently five Ambassadors getting ready to bridge to adult members this spring. Over those years, she has also served as the Service Unit Events Chair, Family Partnership Chair, Community Liaison, Service Unit delegate, and most recently the Daisy and Brownie Troop Consultant for Beautiful Waters.  Certified in almost all the council courses like lifeguard, archery, wilderness and small craft, she enjoys bringing high adventure to the girls whenever possible.  At the council level, she currently volunteers as an adult training facilitator, a member of the Bronze /Silver Award committee, a member of the product committee and is a past Convention 2017 alternate delegate. With guidance from her daughter, who is an inaugural member of the GSUSA committee for older girls, she plans to continue volunteering with Girl Scouts in the future to bring opportunities to older Girl Scouts.
