Become-a-Girl-Scout-Feature-Image

Girl Scouts need a champion. They need a community willing to invest in their dreams. They need a network of alums and supporters cheering them on and showing them what’s possible.

Giving to Girl Scouts is easy: You can make a one-time gift, or you can make a pledge or gift through one of our giving societies or specialized funds: Juliette’s Circle and Daisy’s Circle, or the Friendship Circle. Your tax-deductible contribution will directly benefit more than 10,000 girls and adult volunteers in countless ways throughout Southwest Texas.

In-kind Donations

In-kind donations are donations that are "paid or given in goods, commodities, or services instead of money." This includes donations of actual items, labor, or gift cards -- it does not include donations made by cash or check. The rule of thumb is if you can put it in your bank account it is not an in-kind donation.

Please be sure to complete an In-Kind Donation Form so that your gift can be acknowledged appropriately. Remember -- because service units and/or troops are not 501(c)(3) entities in accordance with state and federal laws, they  cannot request tax-free gifts nor can they issue receipts for tax-free donations. All cash donations of $250 or more or any donations requiring a tax-exempt receipt that are received by troops or service units should be given to the council (via your GO Team) for documentation. When applicable, the council will issue a receipt and acknowledgment letter and ensure proper disbursement of the funds back to the troop or service unit.

For further questions regarding in-kind donations, please contact Janet Pedrotti (210-349-2404/1-800-580-7247 ext. 223).

Why Donate?

Your gift to Girl Scouts will help prepare girls for a lifetime of leadership, success and adventure in a safe, no-limits space designed for and by girls!

Through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience – which is our collection of engaging, challenging and fun activities like earning badges, going on awesome trips, selling cookies, exploring science, getting outdoors and giving back to the community – girls will learn by doing and build essential skills along the way.

Four areas form the foundation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience:

  • STEM: We work to engage a girl’s interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through dozens of new badges and awards that encourage girls to explore space science, computer science, engineering and outdoor STEM fields.
  • Outdoors: Through progressive outdoor programs for all ages, girls experience nature and become environmental stewards and protectors of our planet.
  • Life skills: Girls enhance the academic skills they learn in school through topics such as civic engagement, healthy living, financial literacy, the arts and global citizenship.
  • Entrepreneurship: Through the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls can change the world by learning essential business skills such as goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
