Getting to Camp by Bus

We offer bus transportation to and from our northern camps (Shadow Rim, Camp Maripai, and Willow Springs), and recommend parent/guardians send their campers on the bus to help reduce congestion at our facilities. This gives campers a chance to meet other campers and get acquainted before they arrive. Buses are air conditioned, equipped with bathrooms, and are supervised by bus chaperones. 

Reservations must be made in advance. It’s easiest to purchase bus transportation while reserving your camper’s session. To add this service closer to your camper’s session date, contact Customer Care at 602-452-7030 or reghelp@girlscoutsaz.org. If you do not indicate that you wanted your camper to ride the bus upon registration or have not contacted us via phone, or email, your camper is not registered to take the bus.

See general logistics below. A more detailed confirmation packet with maps, directions, COVID-19 and other safety procedures will be sent to bus riders one week before the session starts.

The exact pick-up and drop-off locations are still being finalized. However, we are working hard with local businesses in each city to provide your camper with a safe and convenient site. We will update the website once each location is officially locked in.

Check your email for your designated times.

Fountain Hills  check-in: 11:00 am depending on traffic time may vary earlier or later (when the bus arrives, health checks & bus check-in will be done by bus chaperones).  The bus departs quickly afterward.

Pick Up

The person picking up the camper is required to show photo identification. There are no exceptions to this policy – even parent/guardians must show ID. This is for your camper’s protection. All authorized pick-ups must be listed in camper’s registration forms. If you know you are not able to pick up your camper, and/or need to add an additional authorized person, you must log into your Ultra Camp registration account, and add the person’s name and contact information. Please contact the camp director as well.

Luggage will be removed from the storage area and placed in piles by each bus. Please take time to find your camper’s luggage, laundry bag, sleeping bag, pillow, stuffed animal, etc. Luggage may have expanded—check thoroughly. It’s much easier to take it all home rather than make a trip to pick up lost & found items from the Girl Scout Service Center.

It is NOT possible to plan for someone to stay with your camper beyond the bus check-out time. If a change occurs and buses will not be returning to Phoenix on time, we will make every attempt (via email and phone) to contact you and be present at bus stop to answer questions.

Want to be a bus chaperone?

We are always looking for volunteers to chaperone our buses. If your camper rides the bus and you volunteer as a chaperone, they can ride for no cost! You must register and pay for bus transportation in advance and a bus refund will be issued after the trip is completed. All chaperones will start the journey from our Central Phoenix stop. Official confirmation will be emailed the week before the trip.

You're welcome to volunteer for trips even though your camper is not attending a session. We’d love your help! Reimbursements will ONLY be given to those who have reserved a spot. Reimbursements will be processed and returned to the card used after the trip is completed – amount will not exceed amount of bus trips per girl.
