Girl Scouts GCNWI Camps and Properties

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana offers outdoor programming at four camps and three gathering places! Our camps are also available for rent by Girl Scout troops and other groups.

GCNWI camps are located across three states in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

Camp Butternut Springs

Valparaiso, Indiana 46385

Property details: Camp Butternut Springs is located on 304 beautiful, wooded acres, and offers a swimming pool, canoeing, archery range, hayrides, hiking trails, baseball field, soccer field, and Dyna-track. Sledding is a favorite pastime in the winter. Throughout the year, various program events are offered, as well as resident camp during the summer. An air-conditioned, large dining hall can accommodate day events or large group gatherings.

Camp Butternut Springs now features the Albert C. Hanna High Adventure Course, with multiple levels of obstacles to give girls the opportunity to make their own challenge by course. 

Accommodations: Modern lodges, rustic lodges, cabins, and platform tents are available.

Getting there: Camp Butternut Springs is easily accessible from I-80/90 and I-94.

Camp Greene Wood

Property details: Camp Greene Wood is a 136 acre wooded camp offers an archery range, hiking trails, and orienteering. An outdoor shelter with concrete floor is available for day use. Throughout the year, various program events are offered, as well as day camp during the summer.

Accommodations: Campers can enjoy staying in lodges, platform tents, tabins or yurts. 

Getting there: Camp Greene Wood is conveniently located near I-355 and Route 53.

Camp Juniper Knoll

Property details: Camp Juniper Knoll is a beautiful 186 acre wooded property on Pleasant Lake that offers lake swimming, canoeing, an archery range, hiking trails, and hayrides. Sledding and snow shoeing are available during the winter. Throughout the year, various program events are offered, as well as resident camp in the summer.

Accommodations: Modern lodges, rustic lodges, platform tents, and yurts are available. 

Getting there: Camp Juniper Knoll is conveniently accessible from I-43 and Routes 12 and 20.

Camp Palos

Property details: Camp Palos is a beautiful 80 acre wooded camp that offers a nature center, archery range, hiking trails, and hay rides. Snow shoeing is available in the winter. The North Shelter is a great area for day events or to pitch your own tent. Year round programs are held throughout the year, as well as day camp in the summer.

Accommodations: Campers will enjoy staying in rustic lodges, cabins, or platform tents.

Getting there: Camp Palos is conveniently accessible from I-55 and I-294.
