Planned Giving
In 1912, Juliette Gordon Low knew she had a fabulous idea but needed funding to get it off the ground. She sold her treasured string of pearls and used the money to establish Girl Scouts. Juliette’s outstanding leadership continued to be matched by her generosity. After converting the carriage house of her home to become the first national headquarters, she gifted the property to Girl Scouts in her will—Girl Scouts’ first planned gift!
In honor of Juliette’s passion and commitment, Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts has established the Juliette Low Society for anyone who elects to make a significant planned gift to the council in any of the following ways:
- A gift by Will or Bequest directs a portion of your assets or residuary balances to GSCWM
- Gifts of Special Assets: stocks, bonds, retirement plans, real estate
- Retained Income Gifts, which include Charitable Lead and Remainder Trusts
- Life Insurance Policies in which GSCWM is named the beneficiary
As a member of the Juliette Low Society, your commitment will support and sustain Girl Scouting well beyond your lifetime. Your legacy will shine through the smiles, the laughter and the achievements of Girl Scouts for years to come. You will receive a specially designed lapel pin insert with a pearl symbolizing Juliette Low’s initial investment in Girl Scouts and enjoy our annual Juliette Low Society Tea.
Please allow us to show our deepest appreciation for your generous gift by informing us of your decision to include Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts in your estate or financial plans.
