Council Patch Programs

In Girl Scouts, girls develop courage, character, and self-esteem. Through council patch programs, Girl Scouts follow requirements that link them with local organizations and resources, helping them develop a lasting sense of responsibility and accountability to their communities.

All patches are available for purchase in each of the three shops. 

Bullying: Take Control (all ages)
In this patch program, girls learn how to proactively address situations of relational aggression and tension. The program promotes bullying intervention and prevention in girls of all ages.

Coat of Many Colors patch (Brownie, Junior, Cadette)
This patch program is dedicated to Dolly Parton’s song “Coat of Many Colors” and the resilience and character it speaks of. You can complete all the activities, even if you’re not a Girl Scout!

Demystifying Dyslexia Patch Packet (all ages)
Girl Scouts Fiona S. & Safiya B. designed this patch program as part of their Girl Scout Silver Award project! Using the Girl Scout model of “discover, connect, take action” girls can follow this program and earn the Demystifying Dyslexia patch. Girls will discover facts about dyslexia, connect with people who have dyslexia through personal interactions, literature, or videos, and take action to raise awareness about dyslexia. This program can be completed with your troop or as an individual Girl Scout. Download the Demystifying Dyslexia patch packet to get started.

Explore American Evolution Patch Program                                               AMERICAN EVOLUTION™ commemorates the 400th anniversary of several key historical events that occurred in Virginia in 1619 that continue to influence America today. This patch was developed to empower girls to educate themselves on our shared history and shape our future. Explore Chattanooga patch (all ages)
Come explore Chattanooga! Chattanooga Zoo, Crabtree Farms, Creative Discovery Museum, Hunter Museum, Reflection Riding, and Tennessee Aquarium developed this patch program to introduce GSCSA to this wonderful city. Come and discover! 

Explore Knoxville patch (all ages)
Visit and explore Knoxville museums, historical attractions, and more! Choose from 11 area museums of all varieties to work towards completion of the patch. Limited number of patches remaining! Order soon to ensure you can still receive this patch.

Explore Norris Patch
The Explore Norris patch was created by Troop #20028 as a service project so girls from all over can come explore a hidden gem in our council! Limited number of patches remaining! Order soon to ensure you can still receive this patch.

Explore Northeast Tennessee (all ages)
Discover the unique towns and cities of Northeast Tennessee with a variety of year round activities focused on outdoors, family fun, history, culture, and education.

Explore Virginia Women's Suffrage
In 2020 we celebrated 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment: giving women the right to vote. Explore the history, challenges, and accomplishments of the women who fought for this basic right of citizenship for women. Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast developed this patch program. Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) Patch (all ages)
Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) has partnered with Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians to offer the Food Allergy Awareness Patch Program. This patch program is an opportunity for Girl Scouts to learn about life with food allergies, with an emphasis on raising awareness of the public health issue, which impacts 32 million children and adults in the United States. Simply complete the patch requirements and pick-up the FREE patch at one of our Council shops.

Get Out and Play Patch
Everyone loves to play! We have an abundance of great places to play in the Knoxville area. Legacy Parks Foundation with the Knoxville Mercury developed the Get Out and Play! guide to make it easy for you to locate parks, trails, greenways, and blueways in Knoxville and surrounding areas. Find at least one park in the guide that you have never visited, and complete the required number of activities for your grade level to earn the patch! 

Honor Troop
Each year, troops who complete the Honor Troop requirements and submit a completed application will receive a patch and year bar for all girls in the troop (returning Honor Troop girls will receive a year bar each subsequent year they participate).

Leave only Footprints (all ages)
Who owns Camp Adahi, Camp Tanasi, and Camp Wildwood? If you’re a Girl Scout – you do! By working together, we can makes sure our camps are wonderful places for girls for years to come!

Mountain Mammas of Appalachia (All levels)
This patch program was developed by Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council. Since all 46 counties of GSCSA’s are located in Appalachia, this is an opportunity for us to celebrate our Appalachian heritage. This program is developed to be a 12-month program (October 2018 – September 2019), but girls can earn this patch at any time – even after September 2019.

The Needle and Thread patch (Junior, Cadette)
This patch program will introduce Juniors and Cadettes to fiber arts, embroidery, and handwork. They'll learn about past and current textile arts, tools, and techniques, and then do hands-on creation or embellishing! The seven steps can be completed on your own or with a group. Field trips to a museum or exhibit and to a store are included in the requirements, with online options available.

Our Girl Scout Story patch (all ages)
This patch program was developed by volunteers from the Girl Scout Museum at Daisy's Place to help girls understand the first century of Girl Scouting. It uses a “wheelie” filled with materials for earning the patch at all levels.

Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador

Raccoon Run patch (all ages)
Come enjoy the varying habitats at Camp Tanasi. Use your eyes, ears, nose, and mind to become a discoverer on our Raccoon Run trail. Your walk down the trail should bring you closer to the nature all around you and help you learn and remember things about the past.

Save a Bee patch (all ages)
This patch was developed by a local GSCSA troop! In the program, girls discover new things about honey bees and how they are important in ecosystems, connect with others to share knowledge and ideas, and take action by spreading the word about how to stop the decline of the honey bee population. This program also has a Mentor Resource Guide.

Secret City Heritage patch (Brownie and up)
This new patch program was developed by volunteers from the Girl Scout Museum at Daisy's Place for girls to learn about and explore Oak Ridge, Tennessee – the Secret City. It uses a packet of materials available for checkout from local service center shops, which includes games and other information.

Solar United Neighbors (S.U.N.) patch (Brownie and up)
Earning the S.U.N. patch allows girls to DISCOVER how solar works; CONNECT solar energy with their lives, community, and the planet; and TAKE ACTION on what they’ve learned to use solar energy as a renewable and pollution-free resource. Learn more about how to earn this patch!

Tennessee Woman Suffrage Centennial patch (all ages)
The 19th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution granted women the right to vote. On August 18, 1920, the Tennessee General Assembly passed the ratification resolution, giving the amendment the 36th — and final — state necessary for ratification.
Join us in 2020 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote and earn the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Centennial patch!
