Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines Appoints New Chief People and Legal Officer

Raleigh, N.C. — Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines (GS-NCCP) is proud to announce the appointment of Latisha Johnson as Chief People and Legal Officer. Latisha is embracing a more collaborative approach in her expanded leadership role within the Human Resource department while maintaining her crucial position as a member of the executive leadership team. In her new role, she will work together with other leaders to co-design and jointly execute the organization's strategy, collectively assessing future needs, challenges, and opportunities to ensure the organization's growth and success.

Latisha, in her team-oriented approach, will set and oversee GS-NCCP's People strategy, emphasizing the importance of attracting and retaining a strong team, maximizing employee potential, and shaping the company culture. She will work closely with the leadership team to execute the organization's mission, equipping them with essential skills to coach, motivate, and inspire employees and volunteers. Latisha always fosters a sense of teamwork and cooperation and will continue to be an integral part of the entire employee experience.

As the world's leading organization for girls, Girl Scouts understands the significance of offering both Girl Scout members and employees a robust support network that enables them to grow, amplify their voices, and pave the way for enduring, positive change. As Chief Legal Officer, Latisha will be responsible for our Council's legal affairs, ensuring compliance with employment law, labor relations, and advising the executive leadership and management team on legal and regulatory issues. She will also lead GS-NCCP's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Racial Justice strategic plan by partnering with departments to create and evaluate goals that foster a culture where all employees feel they belong.

Latisha holds a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University, a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from Villanova University, and a Professional in Human Resources certification from the Society of Human Resource Management. Since joining GS-NCCP in spring 2019, she has made noteworthy contributions, such as streamlining recruitment and onboarding processes, reviewing, and updating policies, and enhancing the performance management system.

In 2020, Latisha participated in the NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education Panel and graduated from two leadership programs: Raleigh Chamber's Leadership Raleigh Class #42 and Her New Standard Women of Color Leadership Bootcamp. She was also a featured speaker on Closing the Equity Gap at the 2021 Raleigh Chamber Women > Force in Business Conference.

Currently, Latisha serves as the VP of Diversity with Raleigh Metro SHRM and is a SHRM CP/SCP Instructor, as well as an active member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, Diversity Equity, and Inclusion committee. Through her involvement in these roles, she consistently demonstrates her unwavering commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. By doing so, she contributes to the creation of an innovative and supportive environment that benefits all employees and members.
