Farmingdale

Camp Sacajawea

Anchored by a private, stream-fed lake, Camp Sacajawea consists of 140 wooded acres. Owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Camp Sacajawea is located less than 10 minutes from the New Jersey Parkway in Farmingdale, New Jersey.

Facilities are available to meet almost any need. From a two-story lakeside cabin to numerous camping sites, Camp Sacajawea features property ranging from rustic and remote to modern with electricity; some sites even have a refrigerator.

Camp Sacajawea is available for year-round use. You can also schedule a wide range of activities during your time at Camp Sacajawea. Offerings include nature trails, a lake for boating, an outdoor swimming pool, archery, zip line, climbing wall and a challenge course. Trained staff is available to assist with all these activities.

Lakeside

The Lakeside cabin at Camp Sacajawea features a fireplace, large meeting area and a kitchen. There is also a loft, accessible by a spiral staircase. The back wall of the main level features large windows and sliding glass doors that open to a deck and the lake. A parking lot is attached to the entrance of the cabin, allowing visitors to drive to it for meetings and events.

Program Activity Center

The Program Activity Center is located on-site at Camp Sacajawea. It is available for rental seven-days a week, all year round. The entire building consists of 11,500 square feet of usable space, including a main room capable of holding 250-300 people; a kitchen and attached entry way are also available for use. Also available are sporting areas including tennis and basketball courts plus fields for softball, soccer and field hockey, and a veranda with 10 picnic tables featuring an outdoor porch area.

Camping Facilities

Camping facilities at Camp Sacajawea can be broken down into three types - yurts, platform tent sites and primitive camp sites.

Platform tent sites are available from mid-April through early November for reservations seven-days a week. During June, July and August, tent sites are available on weekends only. These sites at Camp Sacajawea can handle groups as small as 18 and as large as 300. Sites feature either canvas or wood sided tents with with electricity, running water, fire rings and barbecue grills. The largest area, called Big Top, handles up to 300 guests, can be used as a dining area; it’s also great for outdoor events such as dances or plays.

Primative camp sites are exactly what the name implies – a spot in the woods, surrounded by nature with beautiful views in every direction. Even roughing it at Camp Sacajawea isn’t roughing it. One of these sites includes access to electricity and fresh water.

Camp Sacajawea even offers a performing arts center featuring a covered stage area and outdoor arena seating.

Toms River

Ocean First Conference Center

The Ocean First Conference Center is located at the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore’s Ocean Service center. This high-tech training room includes an LCD projector and screen, laptop computer, tables and chairs, a conference calling system and an interactive white board. 

All Purpose Room

The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore’s All Purpose Room at the Ocean Service Center is exactly what the name implies, a room available to meet almost any need. The room features an LCD projector plus two TV monitors, conference tables and chairs are also available. This room is suitable for everything from an organizational business meeting to a family party for a baptism or birthday.

Waretown

Camp Amity Acres

Owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Camp Amity Acres is located in New Jersey’s scenic pinelands near Waretown, New Jersey, minutes away from Route 72 and the Garden State Parkway.

Camp Amity Acres provides a compelling setting for a wide range of activities. Offerings include nature trails, a lake for swimming and boating, archery, zip line, climbing wall, challenge course, structure platform sites and Friendship Lodge, a heated, modern facility. There is even a playground on site for younger guests.

Amity Acres is available for use year round. Friendship Lodge is available every weekend and weekdays from September through June. From June until September it is only available on weekends due to an on-site summer day camp.

Enclosed platform structure sites are also available on a first come/first served basis from April through October. Refrigerators are located in Friendship Lodge for use by those who reserve platform structures.

Trained staff may also be added to any event or activity to assist with all camp activities.

Friendship Lodge

Friendship Lodge at Camp Amity Acres is a heated facility. It includes a common room with a fireplace, capable of seating 45 people or sleeping 25; two kitchens featuring stoves with industrial hoods and a small prep area; two bathrooms with hot showers; two dorms that can sleep 15-20 people; plus decking and a full basement than can accommodate 150 people. An amphitheater is also attached; it includes stadium seating and is a great location for group presentations.
