What inspired you to become a Troop Leader?
My daughter! She inspires me to try something new every day.
What kind of activities do you do with your troop? What is their favorite thing to do?
My troop loves to do community service. We also complete journeys, go camping, participate in Girl Scout events - both locally and out of state. We also take part in lots of community events and parades.
What kind of service projects have you done with your troop?
I couldn’t tell you just one! The girls are dedicated to working in the community and giving back.
Tell us about a volunteer moment that stands out for you.
Everythingto be honest! I love being able to participate in something meaningful with my daughter; it brings us closer and creates great memories for us both.
What advice would you give other Troop Leaders?
Always enjoy what you do, ask for help, live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law, and remember to stay positive!
What do you wish someone had told you as a new Troop Leader?
Ask for help! So many volunteers hold a wealth of knowledge that’s right at your fingertips if you need it.
What would you like others to know about volunteer opportunities with the Girl Scouts?
Volunteering is a great opportunity to be productive in your community and make lasting impressions and memories with your daughter(s).
Does your troop sell cookies? If yes, tell us in your own words why it is important to participate in the cookie program?
Yes, the girls learn how to communicate better and make lasting connections with the community.
What are your troops’ cookie-selling tips and tricks?
Always smile, say please, and thank you. Never get sad if you don't make a sale and always say, ‘have a wonderful day.’ Your kindness brings customers back, and those who didn't want to buy at first tend to return to donate or buy cookies anyway!
What is the most inspiring moment you have experienced as a Troop Leader?
Watching my daughter and other girls help those less fortunate. My troop is always excited to do community service. They make me very proud.
