Program & Grade Levels

Girl Scouts welcomes all girls in grades K–12. Girl Scout program levels correspond to what grade you are in at school. As a Girl Scout, you'll:

  • Meet new friends in your troop and at events.
  • Try new things, work toward badges, and learn the powerful ways you can take the lead every single day.
  • Make a difference in your community through Leadership Journeys.
  • Hone your business skills by selling cookies.
  • Explore nature, the outdoors, the world, and go to Girl Scout summer camp.
  • Solve issues you care about by earning Highest Awards, advocate for girls, join an influential board—your work may even be honored as a Young Women of Distinction!
  • And so much more (there’s a whole world of new opportunities)!

Girl Scout Grade Levels

Girl Scout Daises (Grades K-1)

The world sparkles as you do lots of things for the first time! Every time you get to together with other Daisies, you’re sure to have an exciting, giggle-filled, adventure. Along the way, you’ll help others—and never forget how that feels.

Daisies start with the basics—gaining new friends, earning skill-building Petals and badges as you embrace the Girl Scout Promise and Law, exploring the outdoors—and build upon your successes each year.

Girl Scout Brownies (Grades 2-3)

You are ready to take on the world, and Girl Scouting lets you do just that! You’ll learn new things and get to show off what you know. As a Brownie, you can explore the world, meet new people, and do something big that makes you feel great!

You might go on your first hike in the great outdoors; visit a science museum; band together as a mighty Brownie team to start a cookie business—and use some of the money to help others. You will earn Journey Awards to build leadership skills and earn badges to explore science, health, art, and more

Girl Scout Juniors (Grades 4-5)

You are a real-life superhero who wakes up every day ready to play a new role! As a Girl Scout Junior, you’ll team up with fellow supergirls—who are change makers, big-idea thinkers, and future leaders just like you. 

You can be an explorer at summer camp, a CEO when you market and sell cookies, a scientist when you do energy audits, or a product designer when you earn your Innovation badge. You might even earn your Bronze Award, the first of Girl Scouts’ Highest Awards.

Girl Scout Cadettes (Grade 6-8)

Making true-blue friends, saving the planet, standing up against stereotypes, using their team power for the greater good—that’s what being a Girl Scout Cadette is all about.

You can blaze new trails in the wilderness, write and direct your own movies, or pick up tools to do some woodworking. Earning the Girl Scout Silver Awardwill demonstrate that you are an organized and determined leader—and that you are dedicated to improving your community. You might even help younger Girl Scouts as Youth Event Assistant, mentor younger Girl Scouts, or travel the world through Girl Scout Destinations.

Girl Scout Seniors (Grades 9-10)

You are ready to take the world by storm—and Girl Scouts will give you millions of ways to do it!

As a Girl Scout Senior, you’ll tackle challenges with confidence, independence, and critical thinking. You might explore career paths, connect with women leaders, and begin to build your networks. Who knows, you might even earn your Gold Award, go on a wilderness trip at camp, be a Counselor-In-Training, or travel to amazing places like Costa Rica, Japan, or India!

Girl Scout Ambassadors (Grades 11-12)

As a Girl Scout Ambassador, we’ll cheer you on as you discover how to advocate for causes you care about, connect with like-minded young women, and work with others make a difference in the world.

You might explore career paths, connect with women leaders, and begin to build your networks. Who knows, you might even go on a wilderness trip at camp, be a Counselor-In-Training, or travel to amazing places! You can earn your Gold Award—which (by the way) adds that “little something extra” to your college applications!

When you bridge from an Ambassador to an adult, you’ll be part of our network of impressive alums, be eligible for college scholarships, and ready to take on the world!
