There are two deadlines for Gold Award Final Reports:

  • Girls currently working on their Gold Award Project, if you would like to be included in this year’s Gold Award Ceremony (June 2023), you must submit your final paperwork by March 31, 2023.
  • Graduating Ambassadors (will be included in next year’s Gold Award Ceremony in June 2024), you must submit your final paperwork by September 30, 2023

Gold Take Action Projects at GSWCF

Please fill out the High Awards at GSWCF form and bring with you to your meeting with the property ranger. Once a ranger has approved your idea, please submit your form to goldaward@gswcf.org for committee approval. The Gold Award Committee will approve or provide feedback regarding your project within 10 business days. With committee approval you can proceed with your Gold Award Project.

How Do I Choose An Issue?

Scholarships 

Below are some scholarship opportunities for Gold Award Girl Scouts. Some of these scholarships are through Girl Scouts and others are separate organizations. In that case,  you would have to contact them to get more information. 

Always ask the college or university you plan to attend if they offer scholarships for the Girl Scout Gold Award, leadership, or civic engagement. If your college is unsure, please have them email goldaward@gswcf.org or call (813) 262-1782.

Ann Hensler Scholarship

The Ann Hensler Scholarship is in honor of Ann Hensler, a past GSWCF Executive Director and a 1992 Woman of Distinction who was with GSWCF for approximately 10 years. She passed away from cancer in 1999, and in her will she donated funds to be used as a scholarship for Gold Award Girl Scouts in recognition of their acomplishments.

The first place recipient recieves $600 and the second place recipient recieves $500 to be used towards the next step in their education.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, a program of the nonprofit organization Young Heroes Project, celebrates inspiring, public-spirited young people from diverse backgrounds all across North America. Each year, the Barron Prize honors 25 outstanding young leaders ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive difference to people and the environment.

GSUSA Scholarship

The GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship program recognizes the outstanding achievement of and provides financial support to one Gold Award Girl Scout per council. Any current high school senior who has earned her Gold Award or graduate who earned her award between April 1st, 2022 and September 30th, 2022 is eligible to apply.

The application period begins on March 15th, 2023 and will close on April 16th 2023. To complete the application, have girls log into their GoGold accounts at gogold.girlscouts.org and look for the “Apply for a GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship” box on the dashboard.

Note: Gold Award Girl Scouts who applied for the 2021 or 2022 scholarship are not eligible to re-apply.

GSWCF Scholarship

Funded by ad purchases in the Gold Award Ceremony program, the GSWCF scholarship is a scholarship opportunity for Gold Award Girl Scouts in the west central Florida area. This new scholarship provides Gold Award Girl Scouts with funds to help support their higher education.

GTE Federal Credit Union

GTE offers scholarships up to $3,000 for high school students that have demonstrated leadership abilities, have work-related experience, and have shown a commitment to community service. Applicants should be prepared to submit an essay of up to 1,000 words to apply.

Hillsborough County Scholarship

Hillsborough County's Community Action Board Scholarship program offers scholarships, worth up to $5,000 each, to eligible students wishing to continue their post-secondary education. The scholarships can be used at trade schools, community colleges, or four-year universities. The scholarships are awarded to students to help alleviate some of the financial burden college tuition creates for many students, so they can focus on furthering their education, not bills.

Regions

High School Seniors

Regions will award $2,500 scholarships to 30 high school seniors who live in states with Regions full service branches and will attend an accredited college during the 2023-2024 academic school year. (15 scholarships will be awarded for Written Essay submissions and 15 scholarships will be awarded for Video Essay submissions.)

College Students

Regions will award $1,750 scholarships to 30 freshmen, sophomores or juniors who permanently reside in, or currently attend an accredited college in, states with Regions full service branches and will attend an accredited college during the 2023-2024 academic school year. (15 scholarships will be awarded for Written Essay submissions and 15 scholarships will be awarded for Video Essay submissions.)

Society of Women Engineers

The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to those who identify as a female/woman and are studying community college, baccalaureate, or graduate programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science.

Sweet Briar College

Sweet Briar College offers scholarships for young women who have completed the Gold Award. Thanks to generous donations, Girl Scouts who have been accepted at Sweet Briar from anywhere in the United States can apply for one of five $2,500 awards. Each scholarship award is for the first year of study.

The Lightning Community Hero program recognizes grassroots Heroes whose noble efforts make a positive impact of others.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

The Veterans of Foreign Wars offers a Scout of the Year program that provides Girl Scouts who display standout citizenship, patriotism and love of country with the opportunity to be rewarded with college scholarships of up to $5,000.
