Presidential Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA)

The Presidential Volunteer Service Award recognizes United States citizens and lawfully admitted, permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime.

Presidential recognition is a tremendous honor and sets you apart from your peers. Even though you may not seek recognition, your example can deliver a powerful message that encourages others to take action.

Teen Service Opportunities
There are three levels and five categories of this award varying by age and hours of service completed within a 12-month period (May 1-April 30):

  • Kids (14 and under): Bronze 50-74 hours; Silver 74-99 hours; and Gold 100+ hours

These hours must be completed within a 12-month time period - for Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, this period is from May 1-April 30. All pins will be made available. The community service can be with Girl Scouts, church, school, or any other community service projects that you are involved in. Please note that no hours may be duplicated for any other organization or award excepting Girl Scout Higher Awards.

You must keep a log of all the hours you have volunteered, the person in charge needs to sign that you have completed these hours, and indicate where you have been volunteering. You may type or handwrite your hours. If you handwrite, it must be in pen and legible. Your logged hours need to be turned in no later than April 30. Volunteers make communities a brighter place to be!
