STEM Resources

Girls are natural-born scientists! They look at the world around them with inquisitive eyes, experiment, push boundaries, and learn as they go.

At Girl Scouts, we introduce girls of every age to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to help them see how they can improve the world—whether they're discovering how a car engine runs, learning to manage finances, or caring for animals.

Our unique, "fun with purpose" K–12 STEM curriculum has been purposefully designed to inspire girls to embrace and celebrate scientific discovery in their lives. Filled with hands-on learning activities, Girl Scouts has been creating and providing STEM opportunities for girls since 1913 when Girl Scouts created its Electrician and Flyer badges. Below you’ll find a variety of resources developed to support our co-leaders and parents as you help you’re her dive into STEM!

Robotics Badges Kits

Designed to bring the Daisy and Brownie Robotics badges to life, co-leaders can now check out a Daisy or Brownie level robotics kit from one of our four service centers. Each kit contains an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide to help you facilitate the badge requirements and allows the girls an opportunity to work through the requirements with a real robot. Kits must be reserved ahead of time. The reservation fee is $25 per kit with a $15 refund issued when the kit is returned. A limited number of kits are available so be sure to reserve your Robotics Kit today (coming soon)! Please note that badges can be purchased separately at any of our retail stores or online.

Volunteer Toolkit (VTK)

One of our most powerful online tools for Girl Scout co-leaders is the Volunteer Toolkit! This wonderful planning resource helps adults and girls make the most of their Girl Scout Experience by providing online meeting aids, badge activities, and more. Currently the Volunteer Toolkit houses step by step instructions for delivering Girl Scouts popular STEM Journeys and badges including:

STEM Resources in the Volunteer Toolkit

STEM Journeys

Engineering | Think Like an Engineer: Girls discover how to think like an engineer by participating in hands-on design challenges and complete a Take Action project.

Computer Science | Think Like a Programmer: Girls learn how programmers solve problems by participating in computational-thinking activities and complete a Take Action project.

STEM Badges

Computer Science | Cybersecurity: Girls learn how computers and the internet work and apply the concepts of safety and protection to the technology they use every day.

Engineering | Mechanical Engineering: Girls use design thinking to complete hands-on mechanical engineering design challenges.

Engineering | Robotics: Girls learn how robots are designed, built, and programmed. “Unplugged” activities allow girls to earn badges without kits.

Space Science: Girls learn all about the Solar System and our place in it. Just like real space scientists, girls explore, observe, and investigate the Sun, Moon, and stars and discover that space is bigger and even more exciting than they may have imagined.
