Building Strong Girls

Welcome to Girl Scouts of Northern California, where girls grow stronger and learn to lead.

Who is Girl Scouts?

As a national organization, Girl Scouts is 2.5 million strong—1.7 million girls and 750,000 adults who believe in the power of every girl to change the world. We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

Why Girl Scouts?

Studies show all-girl environments help girls become more confident, independent, and willing to share their opinions and ideas. In Girl Scouts specifically, girls:

  • Develop a strong sense of self
  • Learn positive values
  • Seek out new challenges
  • Build healthy relationships
  • And learn how to solve problems in their communities.

When girls learn these attitudes, they become responsible, productive, caring, and engaged citizens. But don’t take our word for it! Studies show that learning skills like confidence, conflict resolution, and problem solving are vital to girls leading happy, healthy, successful lives. And the  Girl Scout Research Institute's latest study, The Girl Scout Alum Difference (2021), demonstrates that participating in Girl Scouts builds a foundation for success.

How can Girl Scouts help my girl?

Your girl is already amazing, with her own unique talents, passions, and interests. But to succeed in our increasingly complex world, she’ll need three important things: sisterhood to help her learn to believe in herself, supportive adults to encourage her to take the lead, and special experiences to spark her imagination. As a Girl Scout, your girl will build courage, character, and confidence in a safe, no-limits environment designed for girls and by girls.

At Girl Scouts of Northern California, all girls grades K–12 will have the opportunity to:
