Located just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Boston on 75 acres of natural beauty, Camp Cedar Hill in Waltham welcomes campers entering kindergarten through 12th grade to the life-changing experience of summer camp. Here they’ll enjoy archery, swimming in two pools, boating on the pond, high and low ropes challenge courses, and the alpine climbing tower—not to mention favorite camp activities like singalongs, and crafts. It’s easy to make new friends and lasting memories at Camp Cedar Hill!

Bus Transportation

All camp session fees include bus transportation. We offer nine separate bus routes serving the following towns: Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Boston (Back Bay), Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Canton, Dedham, Dorchester, Framingham, Jamaica Plain, Lexington, Malden, Medford, Milton, Natick, Needham, Newton, Roslindale, Somerville, South Boston, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, West Roxbury, and Winchester. Check bus stop locations and times on the bus schedule

Typical Day

Camp begins with singing and a camp flag ceremony. After the morning ceremony, campers begin their daily activities. They will enjoy swimming, followed by fun activities, such as arts and crafts, adventure, and archery. Then units meet with a program specialist. The majority of the program is planned by the campers with their unit the first day of each session. 

About the Directors

Caitlyn LeBlanc worked at many GSEMA summer camps from 2006-2022. Since 2017, Caitlyn has been the co-director at Camp Cedar Hill. Caitlyn loves outdoor cooking, canoeing, crafts and singing camp songs. During the school year, Caitlyn is a special education high school teaching assistant and a graduate student working towards a Master’s degree in Secondary education. She is also an active member of the GSEMA Gold Award Committee. 

Jen Coombs is a life-long Girl Scout who loves working with children and loves to be at camp in the summer. Jen was a camper at Cedar Hill many years ago and is back for her 16th year working on the staff. From September through June she is an elementary school teacher in Lawrence. Jen volunteers for GSEMA, wearing many different hats, including: outdoor facilitator for archery, canoeing/kayaking, challenges courses, and snow shoeing. 

Health and Safety

Camp Cedar Hill is an American Camp Association-accredited camp. This means that a every five years, a nationally recognized organization ensures that everything we do (from the meals we serve to the programs we plan) is done in a safe way. By selecting an ACA-accredited camp, you can be assured your camper is safe.

Camp Cedar Hill must comply with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (105 CMR 430.000) and is licensed by the City of Waltham.

Directions

From Route 128/95, take exit 44A (formally 28A) toward Belmont on Trapelo Road. Continue on Trapelo Rd to Route 60, approximately 2 ½ miles. Turn right onto Route 60 (Waverly Oaks Rd.) At the traffic light, (Beaver St.), bear right. Drive past Camp Cedar Hill entrance and Bentley University, turn right at the second light onto Forest St. Once you see a chain link fence on the right, start to look for a mailbox (# 241) and turn right into the driveway at the mailbox.   

From the Mass Pike/Watertown Square - Take Newton/Watertown exit toward Watertown. Follow Galen St to Watertown Sq. From Watertown Square take Route 20, (Main St.) west. Follow about 3 miles until you come to John Brewers Restaurant.  Turn right at John Brewers (Warren Street). Stay on Warren about one mile to the Beaver St. intersection on left. Turn left on Beaver St. & Follow Beaver St. across railroad tracks and through intersection. Drive past Camp Cedar Hill entrance and Bentley University, turn right at the second light onto Forest St. Once you see a chain link fence on the right, start to look for a mailbox (#241) and turn right into the driveway at the mailbox.
