About the Director

Emily "Moo" Hollstein can’t wait for the upcoming camp season. This will be Moo’s fifth year as Director, but eleventh year working at Wind in the Pines Day Camp. Previously she has been a Unit Counselor, Program Director, and Assistant Director here at WIP Day. She believes camp is a place for girls to be genuine and to challenge themselves.  Outside of camp Moo works as a first-grade teacher. She received her degree in education from Bridgewater State University after teaching in Ireland for a semester. At camp Moo loves swimming in Gallows Pond and going all-out for dress up days. She looks forward to meeting new campers this summer and seeing returning campers again.

Health and Safety

Directions

There are separate directions for Wind-in-the-Pines day camp and overnight camp, and the two camp properties are not connected.

Please do NOT use a GPS or mapping app to get to camp, as those directions may not work well, and they will likely get you lost on some very remote roads.

To Day Camp
Take Route 3 to exit 7. Follow the signs towards Clarke Road at the end of the ramp. At the stop sign ¼-mile up, turn right onto Long Pond Road. Follow Long Pond Road past South High School (on the right). About .4 of a mile past the high school, turn left on Mast Road. Mast Road is a dirt road. The Camp entrance is 1.7 miles down Mast Road on the left, and it is clearly marked.

Resident Camp

About

For more information, email us. Financial aid is available.

Typical Day

No two days are the same at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines! At the beginning of each session, campers will work with counselors to build a schedule centered around their unit's interests. Counselors will then take the ideas of all the campers and put them together for a great session that combines program specialty areas and the activities you choose!

An emphasis on building friendships, confidence, and leadership skills is incorporated into every activity. At Wind-in-the-Pines each day will be filled with laughter, exploration, and discovery.

About the Director

Colleen “Giggles” Grady is very excited to be returning as Camp Director this summer! This will be her fifth year directing camp. She is dedicated to making camp a “brave space” for girls to try new things, set personal goals, and grow in courage, confidence, and character. She believes camp should be camper-centered, experiential, hands-on, and goal-orientated for all girls.

Entering her ninth summer at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines, Giggles has previously held the positions of unit counselor, leadership director, and assistant camp director. During the school year, Giggles is a middle school music teacher. She earned her BA in Music Education from UMass Amherst, and her MM from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY.

Giggles commits 100% to everything she does, including, but not limited to: singing, dress up days, slime obstacle courses, cookout desserts, rock climbing, sand castles, tie dye, and any other silly and over-the-top activity she can come up with! She is passionate about Girl Scouts and providing girls with new opportunities to grow as individuals in a safe, caring environment. She hopes to meet you this summer!

Sleeping Quarters

Campers who stay at Wind-in-the-Pines will live in platform tents. Each Girl Scout will have a cot with a mattress and small wooden cubby. A bathroom is located near each unit with flush toilets, hand sinks, two shower stalls, and electricity. Hot showers are located in the central shower house. Each unit has a fire pit for cookouts. Counselors stay in quarters with other staff right by the campers' quarters. Each unit has a covered pavilion for rainy day space. Bug netting and poles can be purchased from the Trading Post.

What to Bring

Packing for camp can be very hard if you don’t know what to bring for your stay, especially if you are a first-time camper. If you're wondering what you can and cannot bring to camp, view a complete packing list that will work for all our camp programs. We recommend packing in a camp trunk that can fit under your bed or a soft duffle bag. Please label EVERYTHING with your full name. Visit the Girl Scout Shop for camping essentials!

To Overnight Camp
Take Route 3 to Exit 7. Follow signs for Clark Rd. If coming from the North, take a right at the end of the exit ramp; if coming from the South take a left at the end of the exit ramp. At the stop light go straight onto Clark Road (diagonal across the intersection). Follow to the end of the road and take a left. You will pass a boat ramp on your left and the road turns into a dirt way. The entrance to camp is straight ahead before the road takes a sharp left turn. Look for the Camp Wind-in-the-Pines sign.
