What is a Girl Scout Council?

Girl Scouts of the USA delivers programming and builds opportunities for youth through local councils. Each council focuses on serving and supporting the Girl Scout needs of all members within a specific geographic area, with over 100 councils in the US.

The Girl Scouts of Western Washington council serves 18 counties in western Washington. Get involved with the Girl Scouts of Western Washington council with the following volunteer roles!

Council Volunteer Roles:

Volunteer Facilitator
Join the Volunteer Learning Team! Attend Facilitating Adult Learning (FAL) to qualify to lead workshops for volunteer leaders. Further specialize by earning one or more endorsements in areas like Outdoor Skills, Youth Program Quality (Spotlight), Virtual Learning, and/or Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI).

Spotlight Coach 
Take your leadership to the next level! Share your Girl Scouting experience and support troop leaders in growing their skills. Provide one-on-one virtual coaching and/or lead service unit workshops in areas of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), Girl Scout-Led, Cooperative Learning, and Learning by Doing.

Highest Awards Facilitator
The Highest Awards Review Committee (HARC) is integral in reviewing and providing positive and critical feedback in the Gold Award process. The role of the HARC is to aid Girl Scouts in enhancing their proposals, clarifying details, and providing guidance. The monthly commitment is two virtual conference calls per month, 1-2 hours in length, where proposals and final reports will be reviewed as a group.

Workshop Volunteers
Help girls go far by sharing your expertise! Whether training volunteers or directly teaching girls, workshop volunteers elevate the community and empower girl leaders.
